Beer may not be the answer to everything, but here are a few questions we’re most often asked. If you have a question, we’ll be happy to try to answer it – we may include it in updates of this section later.

  • Are you hiring?
  • Check our current openings here.

  • Will Boulevard ever make fruit beer, "light" beer or non-alcoholic beer?
  • Nope.

  • How many people are employed at Boulevard?
  • We presently have 74 full-time employees and 2 part-time employees.

  • Why does Boulevard sell its beers only in the Midwest?
  • The original plan of our founder and president, John McDonald, was to create a local/regional brewery modeled on the hundreds of breweries that flourished in this country from the 1600s into the early 20th century. By the 1970s, these local and regional producers were virtually extinct, victims of the combined results of Prohibition, pasteurization, cheap transportation and the marketing might of the big industrial brewers. Like other small breweries that have sprung up since the early ‘80s, we’re dedicated to bringing back fresh, flavorful beers in a variety of styles. Our limited regional distribution helps us do just that.

  • What are your plans for expansion?
  • In terms of geography, we don’t have any current plans to grow much beyond our existing territory. We do, however, expect to sell lots more beer within our existing markets in the coming years. And we intend to increase our capacity, as necessary, to meet any future level of demand.

  • Although I can’t get Boulevard in my city, will you ship it to me?
  • Due to legal constraints, we cannot sell or ship beer directly to you. We've heard that www.internetwines.com and www.johnsgrocery.com sell and ship our beer so you might want to check those sites.

  • When do you give tours and how do I sign up?
  • We offer free tours of the brewery every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Reservations are required and can be made by clicking here. The tours fill up quickly, so call early!

  • Why don’t you package your beer in cans?
  • We can’t afford a canning line. Besides, we’re such dyed-in-the-wool traditionalists, we wouldn’t buy one if we could.

  • Why does Boulevard beer cost more than other beers?
  • Glad you asked. First, we only use two-row malted barley (and unmalted wheat in our wheat beer), with no less-expensive adjuncts like rice or corn. Next, we use whole cone hops, straight from the vine. Finally, and most importantly, we do not practice “high gravity” brewing — the process used by most large breweries to make strong, flat beer (“beer concentrate”) which is then mixed with water and carbon dioxide prior to packaging. Instead, every drop of naturally carbonated Boulevard beer goes through the full brewing and fermentation process.

  • Can I buy stock in Boulevard?
  • Sorry, Boulevard is a privately held partnership and is not publicly traded.

  • Do you take dinner reservations?
  • No, Boulevard is not a brewpub and we do not have a restaurant. It's hard enough to do one thing really well, so we invest all of our attention, energy and resources into brewing great beer
